THE ELEMENTS OF POLICY DEPLOYMENT
Policy deployment (sometimes referred to as Hoshin Kanri) is the process of cascading the business’ Vision and Mission through strategies and tactics to achieve this Vision and Mission. Policy deployment enables business leaders to align their efforts horizontally and vertically through the organization such that their individual tactics drive the business to a common outcome.
THE BENEFITS OF POLICY DEPLOYMENT
Too many businesses manage their daily, weekly, monthly, and annual activities with the hope that the organic growth leads them to the business they hope to be. The timeless adage “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail” holds true when it comes to organizational strategy, even though many businesses that fail to strategically plan would argue otherwise. The reality is that organic growth within an organization that does not strategically plan may be filled with lost opportunity.
Structured policy deployment provides the benefit of establishing aspirational business goals and understanding the consequences of achieving these goals or failing to achieve the goals. The strategies and tactics then increase the likelihood of achievement whilst clarifying the measures (lead and lag) that demonstrate achievement.
