The Challenge
Plant Consolidation Success Story
When Australia and New Zealand’s leading special hazards fire-protection company Kidde Australia merged with leading fire protection company Chubb, TXM was called in to manage the merger and subsequent relocation of Kidde into the Chubb Fire Melbourne office.
Former General Manager of Kidde Australia Anthony Piscopo says amongst other things continuity of service was critical throughout the relocation process.
“It was critical we maintained business as usual throughout the relocation and that the project was managed by an organisation who would achieve this while keeping us fully informed throughout the process,” says Anthony.
TXM was contracted to manage the entire relocation process and at the same time address the productivity and health and safety issues facing the factory.
THE TXM RESPONSE
TXM put together a team including experts in project engineering, CAD drafting and contractor supervision to manage every aspect of the relocation. Working closely with Anthony and his Kidde team (and the Chubb team at Dingley) TXM designed the plant, office and warehouse layout, prepared a detailed relocation plan and developed detailed costings and cost-benefit analysis for the project. TXM then selected key contractors for building, the provision of services and plant relocation and oversaw the detailed execution of the project right down to selecting office furniture and arranging dangerous goods licences and site risk assessments.
THE RESULTS
The relocation was achieved on time and below budget and with no lost time, injuries or incidents. Anthony Piscopo says the business continuity requirements were achieved and the relocation was seamless to their customers.
“Throughout the entire process TXM respected the command structure and objectives of the company and worked autonomously while keeping the team fully abreast of progress.”
“We had clarity throughout the project and full visibility without having to be physically involved; TXM was continually liasing with me and my team as the project progressed.”
“I trusted the TXM team to get on with the job.”
Anthony says for the team at Kidde Australia the move was brought on by the buy-out of the company and TXM was able to manage what was a sensitive process effectively.
“The TXM team was a great asset to our business and I have no hesitation in recommending them and providing a personal reference to potential TXM clients.”
